The GUR-SIG is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment in any form. GUR-SIG members violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the SIG.
Harassment includes, but it not limited to, offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
People asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a someone engages in harassing behavior, the steering committee may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the SIG. This investigation and action will be guided by the Harassment & Assault Policy
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Steering Committee immediately. The Steering Committee can be recognized by the green colored names on Discord and are listed here.
Additionally, the Steering committee does not tolerate unprofessional behavior or behavior that contributes to an unwelcoming space for the community.
When community members have been banned from the GUR community they are eligible to petition to rejoin after 1 year of their ban. Please see the petition to rejoin the GUR community here.
